Cardiologist Serving Katy, Sugar Land, Greater Houston
Outpatient evaluation and long-term management of high blood pressure at our Katy office.
High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the most important risk factors for heart attack, stroke, heart failure and kidney disease. Because it usually causes no symptoms, many people learn about it from a routine check or a reading at a pharmacy. Steady, well-planned treatment can lower those long-term risks.
Adnan Khalid, MD, a board-certified cardiologist, provides personalized, evidence-based hypertension care at our Katy office on W Grand Pkwy S. Patients from Katy, Cinco Ranch, Fulshear and nearby West Houston communities visit this office.

Many people with high blood pressure are treated well by their primary care clinician. A visit with a cardiologist in Katy can be helpful when:
Dr. Khalid’s listed specialties include cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, so blood pressure is managed in the context of your overall heart health.

Advanced Cardiology in Katy evaluates and manages a broad range of heart and blood vessel conditions, following current evidence-based guidelines.
High blood pressure rarely travels alone. During your Katy visit, Dr. Khalid looks at how your blood pressure fits with other conditions that share the same risk factors or that hypertension can worsen, including:
Treating these together, instead of one at a time, gives a clearer picture of your overall cardiovascular risk.
Hypertension usually develops slowly and silently. Left untreated over the years, it can contribute to:
Early diagnosis and consistent management help lower these risks. Very high readings are different: if a repeat reading stays above 180/120 and you have chest pain, shortness of breath, back pain, numbness or weakness, vision changes or difficulty speaking, call 911. Call 911 for chest discomfort lasting more than a few minutes or stroke signs (face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty) at any blood pressure.
The first goal is to confirm that your readings are accurate and to see whether high blood pressure has affected your heart. Your evaluation may include:
Dr. Khalid reviews the results with you and explains what they mean for your treatment. Some findings, such as a thickened heart muscle, can improve once blood pressure is well controlled.
Your plan is based on your average readings, overall cardiovascular risk, other medical conditions and how well you tolerate treatment. It may include:
Do not stop or change a blood pressure medicine on your own. Follow the specific instructions from your care team.
A cardiology visit for high blood pressure does not replace your primary care clinician. In most cases Dr. Khalid shares findings and recommendations with the clinician who referred you, so everyone works from the same plan. Some patients return to primary care for routine blood pressure checks once their readings are stable; others with heart disease continue regular cardiology follow-up.
Our Katy office is at 410 W Grand Pkwy S, Suite 4D. Patients who live closer to Sugar Land can visit our Sugar Land high blood pressure office, whose page also includes a detailed guide to resistant hypertension and home blood pressure measurement.
Before your visit: complete your registration forms, and gather your medication and supplement list, a week or two of home blood pressure readings if you have them, your home monitor, and recent lab, EKG or hospital records.
During your visit: expect a review of your symptoms and history, a heart-focused physical exam, repeat blood pressure measurements and, when appropriate, an office EKG. Dr. Khalid will explain what your readings mean and whether more testing is needed.
After your visit: you will leave with a written plan that may include lifestyle steps, medication changes, home monitoring instructions and a follow-up date. Blood pressure treatment is often adjusted over several visits, so follow-up is part of the plan. Ask our office whether a video visit is appropriate for some follow-ups; rules depend on where you are located during the visit.

Q1: How is hypertension confirmed at Advanced Cardiology?
Dr. Khalid reviews your history, examines you and compares standardized office readings with home or ambulatory readings. An office EKG, blood and urine tests, and sometimes an echocardiogram help show whether blood pressure has affected your heart or kidneys.
Q2: What treatment options are available for high blood pressure?
Treatment is personalized and may include lifestyle changes, blood pressure medicines, home monitoring and treatment of related conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure or sleep apnea. If a hospital procedure is ever needed for a related heart condition, it is scheduled at an affiliated hospital.
Q3: How often will I need follow-up?
It depends on your readings and treatment. Visits are usually closer together while medicines are being adjusted and further apart once blood pressure is stable. Your care team will tell you when to return.
Q4: Do I need a referral?
Some insurance plans require one. Our team can help you check your plan’s requirements when you schedule.
Q5: Does Advanced Cardiology accept insurance?
Yes. Most major insurance plans are accepted, and coverage is verified individually.
