Office hours may differ between our Sugar Land and Katy offices, so please call to confirm office hours for each location before your visit. When you call, let our team know which office you prefer. Dr. Khalid sees patients at both locations, so follow-up can usually continue at whichever office is more convenient.
For your first visit, bring a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of all medications and supplements, any prior heart test results or hospital records, and referral paperwork if your plan requires it. You can complete registration forms ahead of time through the patient portal.
Our team works with most major insurance plans and helps patients with insurance verification, appointment scheduling and new patient paperwork. Coverage is verified individually, and some plans require a referral or authorization. New patients are welcome.
Many patients delay seeing a cardiologist because symptoms seem mild or come and go. However, certain symptoms may point to underlying cardiovascular disease and deserve prompt evaluation.
Call 911 first – do not wait for an appointment – if you have: chest discomfort that lasts more than a few minutes or goes away and comes back; sudden shortness of breath, especially at rest; discomfort spreading to the arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach; a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness with these symptoms; fainting; or stroke warning signs such as face drooping, arm weakness or trouble speaking, even if they go away. These can be signs of a heart attack or stroke.
If any of these symptoms is new, sudden or getting worse quickly, treat it as a possible emergency and call 911. Otherwise, early evaluation and treatment can help lower the risk of serious cardiac complications. Learn more about chest pain evaluation and palpitations.
Preventive cardiology aims to lower heart disease risk before complications occur. At our Sugar Land office, Dr. Khalid works with patients to identify and manage cardiovascular risk factors, including:
Care emphasizes healthier lifestyle choices, nutrition guidance, weight management, tobacco cessation and ongoing monitoring. For some adults, a cholesterol panel, blood pressure history and a calculated 10-year risk estimate help decide whether medication or further testing, such as a coronary calcium scan, makes sense. Learn more about preventive cardiology.
Some patients need more than medication and lifestyle changes. Dr. Khalid is trained and experienced in coronary angiograms, stent placement and advanced heart failure management. Catheter-based procedures are hospital-based: they are scheduled at an affiliated hospital, and our office explains where your procedure will take place and how to prepare. The decision to proceed depends on your symptoms, examination and noninvasive test results. Learn more about cardiac catheterization and angiography.
Each heart test answers a different question. An EKG records the heart’s electrical activity at one moment and can be done in the office. An echocardiogram uses ultrasound to show the heart’s pumping function and valves. Holter and event monitors record the rhythm over days or weeks to catch symptoms that come and go. Stress tests show how the heart responds to exertion, and not every stress test uses a radioactive tracer. None of these tests shows everything, so Dr. Khalid recommends testing based on your symptoms and risk. Other tests are performed or arranged by our office. See all tests and treatments.
At both our Sugar Land and Katy offices, Dr. Khalid evaluates and manages a broad range of heart and blood vessel conditions using current evidence-based guidelines.
Led by Adnan Khalid, MD, our team is committed to delivering personalized treatment plans, advanced diagnostic services, and patient-centered care.
If you have heart palpitations, shortness of breath with activity, uncontrolled blood pressure or other heart-related concerns, an early cardiovascular evaluation can help find problems before complications develop.
