Precision Imaging for a Stronger Heart
Echocardiography—commonly called an echo—is a safe, painless ultrasound test that captures detailed images of your heart’s structure and function. When paired with Doppler studies, it helps evaluate how well blood flows through the heart and its valves.
Whether you’re experiencing shortness of breath, chest discomfort, heart murmurs, fatigue, or suspected valve problems, echocardiography provides vital insights into the root cause. At Advanced Cardiology, we use the latest imaging technology to detect issues early—often before symptoms become severe.
Our board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Adnan Khalid, personally interprets your echo and Doppler results to create a personalized heart care plan.

Why Echocardiography Matters
Echocardiography provides a real-time, detailed look into your heart’s health, including:
Heart Chamber Size & Wall Motion
Reveals if your heart chambers are enlarged or moving abnormally—helpful for detecting heart failure or prior heart attacks.
Heart Valve Function
Evaluates conditions like aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, or tricuspid valve disease using Doppler imaging to show blood flow direction and speed.
Ejection Fraction (EF)
Measures how efficiently your heart pumps with each beat—crucial for diagnosing heart failure or cardiomyopathy.
Pericardial Effusion Detection
Identifies fluid accumulation around the heart, which can affect function or signal inflammation or infection.
Pulmonary Hypertension Assessment
Doppler helps estimate pressures in the pulmonary arteries, which is essential for diagnosing lung-related heart strain.
When Do Cardiologists Recommend an Echo?
You may be referred for an echocardiogram if you have:
-
Unexplained chest pain or shortness of breath
-
Heart murmurs or abnormal heart sounds
-
Swelling in your legs or ankles
-
Dizziness, fainting, or fatigue
-
History of high blood pressure or heart failure
-
A prior abnormal EKG
Early detection using echocardiography can lead to timely treatment—and potentially prevent serious complications.
What the Test May Reveal
-
Valve Disorders (e.g., stenosis, regurgitation)
-
Weakened Heart Muscle (heart failure)
-
Congenital Defects
-
Pericardial Effusion
-
Pulmonary Hypertension
-
Clots or Masses
-
Cardiomyopathy
Depending on your echo and Doppler results, Dr. Khalid may recommend further tests such as stress echocardiography, cardiac MRI, or cardiac catheterization.
